Landmarks Contest #6!!!

This island, called Santorini, is the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history!!!!  

The eruption occurred some 3,600 years ago. The eruption left a large caldera (crater) surrounded by volcanic ash deposits hundreds of meters deep. Where you see the water is actually the crater of the volcano. A popular theory holds that the Santorini eruption is the source of the legend of the lost city of Atlantis.  (The buildings in this picture were built thousands of years later.)

What country does Santorini belong to?  Write your answer on a scrap piece of paper (along with your name) and put it in the Raffle Box.  The drawing will be on Day 1.
